Caelid I

Caelid, a burning rotten land.

The only ones brave, or foolish, enough to stay here are the Redmane knights. With their torches and fire, they beat back the Scarlet Rot in a losing war.

On the path to the Great Jar Colosseum, I fought these Golem archers. Finally, one of their bows is mine!

After defeating the Great Jar champions, I was rewarded. Huzzah for my strength, equal to a giant pot!

A quiet moment shared with a ghost in Fort Gael, after besting the warrior lion within.

The Redmane castle, which a portal at Fort Gael whisked me to. Demigod Radahn lies beyond, I heard. By now, every large structure I approach greets me with ballasts and artillery,

The castle burns. Despite wishing to fight Radahn, who wanders the dunes beyond, but jester Jerren tells me the "stars must align." Strange.

One of the many, many mutated scavengers who rot.

The Caelid divine tower; its traditional entrance blocked. But always an entrance for a clever Tarnished.

Impossibly tall, carved from stone and embedded with meteorite fragments.

A monk who uses blackflame... have I finally found them?

The Godskin Apostles, my younger kin who aspire to be godslayers. Our mother, the Gloam-Eyed Queen, discarded me before they were born. They see me as just another Tarnished vagabond...
I will prove them wrong.
I will prove them wrong.

In a chest at the tower's depths, is the sacred heirloom of mother. The Godslayer's Greatsword, which channels her deathly blackflames. Its indiscriminate, purifying flames can singe even gods.

I returned to visit Ranni, only to find her gone. She uses a booster cushion on her throne, ha!
Still, where did she go? I hope she is not mad that I whacked that annoying Seluvis.
Oh...

Oh...

The Scarlet lake. Formerly central Caelid, here the demigods Radahn and Malenia fought, the stalemate ending when the latter unleashed her Scarlet Rot. Now the land festers.
All left alive either battles the rot, withers or embraces the curse.

A catacomb blooming with mushrooms.

Here is the battle's epicenter, where Malenia bloomed. I found and fought Commander O'Neil, one of Radahn's redmanes, who harbored the unalloyed gold needle. A fine, if apparently useless, item.

One of the "Kindred of Rot" who wander Caelid. Apparently birthed by Scarlet Rot itself, but forsaken by Malenia.
The Rot... how strange, it is more than a disease. It sprung from a demigod and rampaged; yet birthed new life.

Battling through Dragonbarrow. Draconic slaying has gotten easier with time.

Greyoll, mother of drakes. From her came all the dragons I fought so far, but now she withers sick and old, guarded by her loyal children. Fire will do her good.
Still, if she birthed all drakes, who created her? Are there even greater dragons? My blood boils to think so.

Caelid II

Greyoll and her children fell, lesser descendants of a stone-scaled race.

Scarlet sunset over the dunes of Caelid.

Another festering, scarlet-rotting dog. But, he is collared... What monster could tame such a beast? The only near-thing is a shack.

Inside the shack is Gowry, a self-professed sage. Asked for my help in curing his daughter Millicent, in a church up the cliffs. Said the cure lay in that snapped gold-needle I found in the Aeonia swamp.
Undoing the damage left by Marika's kin, I am happy to help. This rot corrupts all, but how does Gowry survive here? Every other in Caelid is a soldier, drake, nomad or fool.

Just as Gowry said. Scarlet-haired, missing an arm, coughing and shuddering alone. I asked Millicent whether she would really trust me, a stranger, to plunge the needle in her arm.
She responded that she lacked any other choice.
She responded that she lacked any other choice.

She improved quickly, being back up soon. Once she washes, she will be quite pretty.
That unalloyed needle was a wonder. Supposedly, it wards away the influence of foreign gods and of scarlet rot. Why does it banish deities and disease? Or, does the scarlet rot come from...?

Jumping with Torrent. These skulls litter the cliffs; far larger than even trolls. Their ancestors, perhaps even the builders of the Divine Towers?

Back at Redmane castle, adventurers gather for the Radahn Festival. A war celebration to slay demigod Radahn, driven insane by the scarlet rot.

For victory!

For revenge! I will watch all the demigods burn.

As the Starscourge fell, stars began moving across the skies. A comet struck the earth, perhaps near Limgrave? I am uninterested in investigating, for Altus Plateau is my next target.

In a dungeon past the dunes, the spirits of Malenia's Cleanrot Knights and Radahn's Redmanes battle. Even with their masters long gone, and both sides long dead, their hatred endures.
Admirable, for me.
Admirable, for me.

The Lift of Dectus, gateway to the plateau. Soon, I will assault the capital, the Erdtree will burn and vengeance for mother will be complete.
